What's new!

We hope 2011 has gotten off to a great start; may it be a glorious year of peace and prosperity for you and all your loved ones.

We appreciate your support of our cause and know that the work that we do in TFB could not have happened without you.

2010 was a fruitful year in which the children made progress in their education and God blessed and opened unexpected doors for them.

Sending them to school has given them much better prospects and made a massive difference in their lives and we are now looking forward to forging ahead in 2011

Having settled their education, the need for a home for the children in Zambia, which has always been a great need, now takes high priority. At the moment, the children live with relatives in impoverished condition and we often end up having to support the relatives so that the children are not kept from going to school or suffer in any other way. With the children living in a TBF home their needs will be better catered for and their development better monitored.

The land purchase and building of the home will cost £75,000.

The land however will be a one-off ourchase such that we can develop for the next 10-20 years with Schools, more Homes, Clinics etc.

This is a huge amount of money for the charity but we are trusting to be able to raise the necessary funds. As we begin to progress with this vision, we are counting on your support once again.

We are currently seeking Volunteers / Champions & Corporate Supporters. We need urgent help with fundraising and getting our message out to a wider audience. While we would be delighted to receive assistance from anyone willing to step out and get stuck in, we would particularly welcome people with experience in Fundraising, Events management, Social Media, PR or Marketing.

As a small charity managed by volunteers we need you to lend us your voice to give us a much bigger voice to campaign for funds to end childhood poverty. Please help us spread the word by visiting our website and referring your friends to do the same.

We are active on Facebook (The Fathers Blessing) and Twitter @thefathersblessing and we welcome passionate supporters to engage with us by connecting with us and helping communicate our message to those in your network. Together we have a bigger voice and can achieve so much more.

Recent visit gives hope to 5 TFB orphans

In Zambia it's not uncommon to find many families struggling to take care of several orphaned children together with existing biological children.

Very often these families are already straining to make ends meet and simply cannot afford to feed another mouth. However when a relative dies, the surviving family members will usually seek to make a home for the children of the deceased.

Monthly feeding programmes

It is common place for children and families to skip one or two meals a day because they don't have money for food. Using donated funds, TFB is now able to operate a monthly feeding program for the families of orphaned children in our care.

In addition, we we also run a quarterly feeding program for 50 of the neediest families in Chipata. These programmes allow sponsored children and families to get something nutritious to eat on a regular basis.

From despair to hope

On our recent visit we heard many heartbreaking stories and met 2 such families where aged grandparents were struggling with the responsibility of providing for their grand children.

The children had lost both parents to AIDS and were being looked after by their grandmothers who could not afford to send them to school and in fact 2 of the children aged 7 and 9 had never been to school. Their future looked grim unless someone stepped in to help.

The support and education of 5 new orphans from 2 families was recently taken on. We urge everyone everywhere to give or help raise funds to help make childhood poverty history.

Three orphaned sisters, benefiting from recent donations are 11 year old Rosemary, 8 year old Natasha and 16 month old Maureen, who recently lost their mother to AIDS and are being looked after by their aged grandmother.

We have seen what difference two years of education has made in a child's life. They learn, it gives them hope and sets them on track for a better future.
